 Indian  Mime Groups to Perform in Greece

Kanglei Mime Theatre Repertory from Manipur and the Jogesh Mime Academy of Kolkata will participate in the 9 th International Mime and Puppetry festival in Kilkis from 25 September  until 10 October. Groups from  Kazakhstan, Syria, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Hungary, Italy, Germany, France, Spain, Greece and many other countries are taking part, with performances in in Kilkis, Thessaloniki and Athens.   

The Jogesh Mime Academy led by Jogesh Datta will present 9 short plays.   
The Kanglei Mime group will perform the play  "Cheitheng (Agony)",  based on a tale from the Ramayana epic. The group will have to stage at least five shows in Greece - three shows at Kilkis on a single day and two in Thessaloniki.

Indian Air Force Round the World Microlight Expedition Reaches Greece
 
A 'Round the World' Microlight expedition undertaken by two Indian Air Force pilots Wg Cdr R Monga and Wg Cdr Anil Kumar arrived in Corfu, Greece on 10 August. This expedition is a part of ongoing IAF platinum jubilee celebration (75 years) , with a purpose of igniting the spirit of adventure and international goodwill.
 

Before coming to Greece, the route of Microlight took it from Delhi (India) - Myanmar - Thailand Laos- Vietnam- China - Japan - Russia- USA - Canada - Greenland -Iceland- Denmark - UK - Netherlands - Germany - Switzerland - Italy. The route will continue from Corfu to Thessaloniki in Greece and on to Turkey - Iran - Oman- Pakistan and back to India.

MedAsia for the promotion of Asian
Studies in the Southern European Region.

 
On February 20th 2006 in Rome, Casa Asia, a consortium established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,

the Catalan Autonomous Government and the City Hall of Barcelona to forge economical
and cultural links between Spain and the different countries of Asia, together with the Rιseau-Asie/CNRS -UPS2999 (France), Instituto de Estudios Estratιgicos e Internacionais (Portugal), University of Athens (Greece), and Istituto Italiano per l΄Africa e l΄Oriente (Italy), formed an association to be known as MedAsia for the promotion of Asian studies in the Southern European Region. Τέσσερα πολεμικά σκάφη της Ινδίας, τα Mumbai, Brahmaputra, Betwa και
Shakti, επισκέφθηκαν το λιμάνι του Πειραιά από τις 11 έως τις 13 Ιουλίου.

Η επίσκεψη απέβλεπε στην ενίσχυση των ναυτικών σχέσεων φιλίας ανάμεσα
στην Ινδία και την Ελλάδα. Τα πλοία παρέμειναν ανοιχτά για επισκέψεις του κοινού.

Indian Naval ships visit Greece

Ο κ. Shashi Tharoor, υποψήφιος της Ινδίας για τη θέση του Γεν. Γραμματέα των Ηνωμένων Εθνών επισκέφθηκε την Αθήνα από τις 15 μέχρι τις 18 Ιουλίου 2006. Ο κ. Tharoor έχει προταθεί επισήμως από την Ινδία να αντικαταστήσει τον Kofi Annan και πιστεύεται ότι ο νέος Γεν. Γραμματέας θα προέρχεται από την Ασία.

Ο Πολυχώρος Πολιτισμού & Τεχνών «Σμάρω Στεφανίδου-Λήδα Shantala»

 προσκάλεσε από το Ν. Δελχί και διοργάνωσε τρεις διαλέξεις με τον Δρ. BHARAT GUPT,  

γνωστό μελετητή της ινδικής και αρχαίας ελληνικής τέχνης, συγγραφέα και μουσικό,  

από τις 5 μέχρι τις 7  Μαΐου 2006.

 Ο ΘΕΑΤΡΙΚΟΣ ΟΡΓΑΝΙΣΜΟΣ ΠΥΡΗΝΑΣ

διοργάνωσε στο θέατρο Πολιτεία από 2 έως 6 Μαΐου 2006

παραστάσεις και workshops Ινδικών κλασσικών χορών
(Κατακάλι, Μοχινιγιάταμ, Μπαρατανάτιαμ και Κουτσιπούντι),

με τους πολυβραβευμένους ερμηνευτές δραματικών τεχνών της Νότιας Ινδίας
Kalamandalam Τζον, Μέρι Τζον και Ρούμπι Τζον. Οι προσκεκλημένοι
καλλιτέχνες,  παρουσίασαν επίσης την τέχνη τους σε σχετικά workshops και 
έκαναν επίδειξη του εντυπωσιακού τους μακιγιάζ.

Το Κανάλι της Βουλής μετάδωσε το Σάββατο 8 Απριλίου 2006 στις 6 το
απόγευμα το πενηντάλεπτο ντοκυμαντέρ του Γιάννη Τριτσιμπίδα με τίτλο «Ο
ΞΕΝΟΣ ΣΤΟΝ ΞΕΝΟ. ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΣ ΓΑΛΑΝΟΣ, ΜΠΕΝΑΡΕΣ».

Στην εν λόγω Εκδήλωση μίλησε ο Πρέσβης της Ινδίας στην Αθήνα Dr. Bhaskar Balakrishnan

για  το  οικονομικό και πολιτικό περιβάλλον της χώρας του και θα παρουσιάσει θέματα όπως

επενδύσεις στην Ινδία  και εμπορικές ευκαιρίες.

Showing of the film "Making of the Mahatma"

The Embassy of India, Athens has organized a presentation of the film by Shyam Benegal “ The Making of the Mahatma” on Friday the 7 th April 2006 at the Pierce Theatre, American College of Greece, Aghia Paraskevi.

The film in English, (with Greek translation and subtitles made by ELINEPA) is dedicated to the memory of Mahatma Gandhi, India’s champion of truth and non-violense , and tells the story of his 21 year long struggle

Hello India (Musical - Thessalonica)

A musical program entitled “Hello India” took place at the
Municipality Theatre of Thessalonica “Aneton” (Paraskevopoulou str. 42,
Ippokrateio) on March 11 at 18.00.

The program featured Indian classical and folk dances and songs
performed by Mrs. Victoria Theodoridou and the students of the Cultural
Center “Nataraja” as well as an introduction to Ayurveda by Mrs Vana
Alexatou. The "Hello India" was sponsored by the Municipality of Thessalonica.

 voted in favour of a new law which for the first time will allow people to be cremated rather than

Greece saves Durga’s image.

The Greek authorities have ordered Athens discotheques to remove the Durga adverts for Southern

 Confort whiskey. The religiously offensive poster was removed as a result of direct communication

 from the Greek Embassy in New Delhi to the authorities in Athens. The Indian community in Athens

 welcomed the move and characterized the swift response to the Hindu protests as part of the Greek government’s determination to move fast and furiously on issues related to the
rights of the minority religious communities settled in Greece.

Ο Sri Sri Ravi Shankar,  ανθρωπιστής και ειρηνοποιός, με διεθνή δράση επισκέφθηκε την Αθήνα και έδωσε

διάλεξη με θέμα "Πραγματοποιώντας τις Ανθρώπινες Αξίες-Γνώση, Μουσική και Διαλογισμός" στο θέατρο "ΟΡΑΜΑ"  Κώστα Πρέκα του Παπάγου στις 13 Νοεμβρίου 2005.
